Information and communication technologies (ICT) in the fields of ageing, eInclusion, and ambient assisted living (AAL) aim at supporting older people to remain independent for as long as possible, to maintain an active participation in society, and to improve their quality of life. The Agora Center, University of Jyväskylä and The CONFIDENCE consortium is pleased to announce the CONFIDENCE 2010 International Conference -Open Doors to ICT for Ageing and eInclusion.

Aim

The conference aims at disseminating current research and development activities carried out within the CONFIDENCE project as well as other research within the European Union Framework Programmes, but is not limited to these. The conference also encourages the exchange of ideas and initiatives among participants in the fields of ICT and ageing, eInclusion, and AAL. Most importantly, the conference will literally "open the doors" of these research and development activities to older people, stakeholders, and the society.

Who should attend

Researchers and ICT developers, public and private social care, business representatives should attend. A central role in the conference is given to the older people, formal and informal care providers, and other stakeholders. That is, OPEN DOORS to ICT for the benefit of older people and our society at large. Researchers or presenters will disseminate their results through their participation in the conference and poster sessions. Older people, users, and stakeholders or guests will be able to learn about the current situation in this area. Through moderated interactive round tables and informal occasions the older people and stakeholders will be able to discuss their points of view with the researchers, and to transmit their interests for now and for the future. The mission of these user-researcher interactive opportunities is to establish a compromise towards a USER-DRIVEN development of ICT that will serve us all sooner or later.
