Abstract:

This paper proposes a hybrid localization method that uses both Round Trip Time (RTT) and Angle of Arrival (AoA) information to locate in three dimensions (3-D) a mobile transceiver indoors. The position of the mobile transceiver is estimated by performing the Least Squares approach with the RTT and AoA data. The proposed method does not require wired connection for synchronization among transceivers and is able to reduce the number of fixed transceivers. Simulation results are presented that compare the proposed RTT-AoA based method with those based on RTT. It is shown that it is enough to work with 3 fixed transceivers to perform 3-D localization.
